The River Dart
Access to the river
The Dart Fisheries Association and the BCU have an agreement permitting access to the river from Newbridge from 1st October to 14th March, and from Dartmeet from 1st December to 14th March.
There is no canoeing or paddling permitted during the summer months
Egress
The egress points are at Newbridge, Waterworks Bridge and at Buckfastleigh. The BCU allow egress at Holne Weir (below Holne Bridge) on river left bank, but please note there is no parking available on this narrow part of the road.
For 2010/11 Season the egress at Holne Bridge will only be open midweek and during the Christmas and New Year period. The egress will be closed at weekends. This is to stop the inconsiderate parking at the bridge affecting local residents and disrupting traffic.
Egress at Waterworks Bridge is available daily to those with a RDCP provider's package and their clients, and at weekends to residents and day visitors who have paid the car parking fee.
Paddlers are welcome to paddle on the river through the Park using the access and egress points outside of the park boundaries but we politely request that if you wish to use our land or any of our facilities, that you respect our property.
